Bus Services in York

Proposed cancellations

As part of proposed budget cuts, North Yorkshire County Council are intending to withdraw subsidy funding for evening, Sunday and bank holiday bus services from April 2011. This will save £600m, equivalent to about 10% of the budget for subsidised bus services, and will allow the council to continue to subsidise daytime services on weekdays and Saturdays to ensure a service in rural areas at essential times.

North Yorkshire County Council would welcome your views on the proposed cuts, before 31 October 2010. Please write to: Integrated Passenger Transport, County Hall, Northallerton, DL7 8AH, or email passenger.transport@northyorks.gov.uk.

Not all evening and Sunday buses will be affected! Some services are provided commercially, and so it is unlikely that these will change.

The following list shows the journeys where subsidy funding may be withdrawn. This may not be exactly the same as the journeys that would be cut - operators may continue to run some of these services, or they may withdraw further services, particularly when the same vehicle is used for both commercial and subsidised services.
